SHW GROUP ANNOUNCES SEVERAL NEW HIRES TO ITS TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION DESIGN STUDIO

AUSTIN – November 30, 2007 – Dallas-based SHW Group, the nation’s premier educational architecture design firm, has added several new employees to its Texas Higher Education studio, including Eric Miller, Deborah Ebersole, Jeremy Theodore and Troy Contreras.

Eric Miller joined the firm as an Intern Architect. Prior to joining SHW Group, Miller spent six years at the University of Texas’ special project studio, where he was senior project manager of construction and also supervised the student intern program.  A member of the Austin AIA chapter, he serves as chairman of the chapter’s young architectural professionals committee, where his leadership inspired a design competition that created a new display for the Trail of Lights festival in Zilker Park in Austin. Eric received his Bachelor’s of Architecture from the New Jersey School of Architecture in Newark.

Deborah Ebersole, AIA, LEED AP, joined SHW Group as a project manager, where she is responsible for project development, meeting coordination, specification writing, construction management, sustainability research and documentation for multiple Texas projects. She previously worked as an Associate at Austin-based Cotera+Reed Architects and as a Project Manager at Round Rock, Texas-based OPUS 3, Architects and Planners. Ebersole is a LEED-Accredited professional and a member of AIA’s Committee on the Environment. Deb received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin.

Jeremy Theodore, AIA, LEED AP, joined the firm as senior project architect. Theodore relocated from Portland, Oregon where he spent the past seven years as a Project Architect at BOORA Architects. While at BOORA, he worked on a variety of high-profile educational projects including The University of Washington’s Intramural Building in Seattle, the Genentech Research Facility in San Francisco, and The University of California at Santa Cruz’s Center for Ocean Health. Theodore graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s of Architecture.

Troy Contreras, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, joined SHW Group as a Project Designer. Contreras has 10 years industry experience, serving as Project Architect and Project Manager at several architectural firms including Austin-based Noack Little, Perkins+Will’s Los Angeles office and DLR Group’s Chicago office. Contreras received a Bachelor’s of Architecture and a Bachelor’s of Environmental Design from the University of Houston’s College of Architecture.

“We are pleased to add these talented individuals to our Texas Higher Education studio,” said R. Don Hensley, AIA, LEED AP, principal at SHW Group. “Their unique visions of art, architecture engineering and business skills will play a large role in this fast-growing studio, and I’m sure their talents will sustain the high-quality work our clients have come to know and expect.”
