TBG Partners’ founding principal Earl Broussard elevated to ASLA Fellow

Fellowship is the highest national honor the landscape architecture association bestows

Austin, September 27, 2010 – Earl Broussard, founding principal at Texas-based landscape architecture firm TBG Partners, has been inducted into the American Society of Landscape Architects’ (ASLA) distinguished Council of Fellows. Fellowship is among the highest honors ASLA may bestow and recognizes the significant contributions these individuals have made to the profession and the public through their works, leadership and management, knowledge and service.

Broussard was nominated in the leadership/management category by ASLA’s Texas chapter. He is a teacher, mentor, advocate, elected official and founder of one of the Southwest’s leading landscape architecture firms. He founded The Broussard Group, now known as TBG Partners, in 1987 and has overseen its consistent growth to become a premier landscape architecture and planning firm.

Broussard is a well known leader in the preservation of Texas cultural landscapes and, through his leadership, TBG Partners has enhanced iconic destinations including the State Capitol, Governor’s Mansion and the Alamo.

As a six-term city councilman, Broussard was the first landscape architect in Texas to hold an elected public office. During that time, he established landscape preservation codes for West Lake Hills and advanced public appreciation of the value of landscape architecture. Broussard also co-led the campaign to bring a landscape architecture practice act to Texas.

Broussard earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University and his Master of Landscape Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Following their investiture ceremony, held in Washington, D.C., the new Fellows may use the suffix “FASLA” to denote this high honor. In total, 41 fellows nationwide were elevated to this distinction by the 2010 ASLA Council of Fellows jury.
