Uptown Players presents “Mommie Queerest”

DALLAS – May 13, 2009 – Uptown Players continues its 2009 season with the hysterical parody, Mommie Queerest, held June 5 – 28, 2009, at the Rose Room Theatre, located inside the S4 nightclub.

Mommie Queerest, featuring an all-male cast of four, tells the now-famous story of movie star Joan Crawford (Coy Covington) and her tumultuous relationship with adopted daughter Christina (Chad Peterson). This hilarious parody of the film classic “Mommie Dearest” revisits the film’s most notorious and beloved scenes, from the infamous wire coat hanger episode to the chilling command, “Tina! Bring me the axe!” It’s not just a spoof, though – it’s a spoof with a twist, as it’s Joan who has the last laugh!

mommie-queerestThe cast includes Coy Covington, Chad Peterson, Kevin Moore and Paul J. Williams, who play 25 characters in 32 fast-paced scenes, all in the span of 90-minutes. The production is under the direction of Andi Allen and written by Jamie Morris, the creator of last summer’s smash hit, The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode.

Mommie Queerest runs June 5 – 28, 2009, with performances at 8 p.m. on Thursday through Sunday nights. Additional performances have been added on July 9 – 12, 2009, at 8 p.m. Performances take place at the Rose Room Theatre, located inside the S4 nightclub, located at 3911 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas TX 75219.
